1961 Maserati 3500 GTI

Description

This Maserati 3500 GTI can only be described as one of the very best in existence. Restored by DTR over a 2 + year period from a US imported car by a very well know musician and car collector. The body was subjected to a detailed restoration with all lower steel replaced (floors, inner and outer, sills inner and outer) followed by the all aluminium work. The wiring loom was custom made to correct specification. Fully re-plumbed with all new piping and cabling as per original spec. Brakes fully rebuilt with new dics and pads and rebuilt original calipers. All suspension glass-blasted and painted with all new joints fitted, new shock absorbers and rebuild leaf springs. The original Borrani wheels were restored with all new period correct tyres fitted. The Lucas fuel injection system was fully rebuilt in Holland by the world's leading specialist and returned as a set up rebuilt unit. The engine was fully rebuilt by us, including fully balanced bottom end, with ground and polished crankshaft and all new bearings. New pistons, valves, guides and seats with re-engineered cylinder head. A new clutch was fitted to the machined flywheel. The five speed gearbox was rebuilt as was the rear differential.  The interior was fully retrimmed with a Scottish leather using approximately 7 hides in total. Even the electric window mechanisms were uprated with modern motors fitted. A hand made headlining was made by us and the dash retrimmed in black leather as per original. This car drives beautifully and wants for nothing. Used on various tours and rallys, this car was also displayed on the Maserati stand at the NEC. Supplied fully serviced by us with a new MoT, the sale price is considerably less than it would cost to restore the same car to this standard today!
