1974 Alfa Romeo A12 Recovery/ transport truck

  • Year 1974
  • Driver Position Left hand drive

Description

Imported approximately 10 years ago from the Naples area, this lovely little truck was a municipal ladder truck upon it's arrival in the UK. The A12 was designed to carry up to 1200kg (hence the name - who knew?), which makes this a perfect transporter for Italian sports or collector's cars.

DTR converted it as a custom 'one off' flat-bed transporter, for our client to take his Fiat Balilla racing. We extended the chassis and fabricated a chequer plate steel bed with hidden ramp and electric winch.

The brakes were overhauled and re-lined with new master cylinder and new rear shock absorbers fitted to carry the weight.  The engine was removed, stripped down and fully rebuilt including all bottom end bearings, new pistons and liners and new clutch assembly.

It's a 1300cc twin cam, which is not the fastest thing on 4 wheels, but then it's not designed for speed.

Attracts lots of attention where ever it goes and a must for the Italian car collection.
