Description
Make no mistake, this is possibly the lowest mileage and best Alfa Giulia Spider in existence.
Showing just 9,700 miles from new, it was reportedly owned by an heiress from new and as a factory supplied UK market right hand drive car, was exported to the Bahamas.
It was damaged in period and returned to the UK around 1971.
Unused for decades, DTR purchased this car a few years ago and undertook a detailed restoration.
The restoration included: Fully glass-blasted stripped bodyshell. All front original outer panels removed, re-shaped and refitted correctly as per factory specification. Repainted in original Grigio and fully wax protected.
The body was zinc coated, primed, levelled and fully restored by us to orignal factory specification.
The engine was full stripped. Showing hardly any wear, the internals were rebuilt with new head studs (an expensive and necessary process on most nord engines), with new barrels and pistons fitted together with all new bearings, polished crankshaft, fully balanced bottom end with new clutch.
The gearbox was fully stripped, inspected and rebuilt with new seals and precautionary second gear synchro. Even the original sticker remains!
Rear axle was stripped and fully rebuilt. Showing negligible wear was then fully reassembled.
The brakes were fully rebuilt, with new seals, re-lined brake shoes, skimmed drums (again showing little wear), new rigid and flexible pipes and rebuilt master cylinder.
Wheels were stripped and powder coated, with new Michelin original spec tyres fitted, including the spare. An orignal Bottani jack was sourced together with wheel brace and a custom bag made with new leather strapping.
The ancillaries were fully rebuilt and it was fitted with a custom made new wiring loom with every area from the lighting to the heater motor rebuilt.
Interior was re-trimmed in new Bridge of Weir leather (a substantial upgrade on the original plastic!), new Cicognani rubber matting and carpets fitted. A new mohair soft top wqs fitted to a fully reconditioned frame.
A factory hardtop is also available with this car, to be restored, all were orignally black, but we can restore this in either black or grey, which would look superb.
This car drives as new and wants for nothing.
1460 hours logged in the restoration with over £35,000 of external costs and parts including chromed original parts.
Not the cheapest, but most likely the best!
