Mercedes 280 SL 'Pagoda' 1968

1968 280 SL Mercedes just arrived here at DTR to undergo a comprehensive restoration. This car appears to be fairly solid, but typical rust on inner and outer sills, wings and rear panels gives an indication of what lies beneath!

We will be assessing the car first and then stripping to a bare bodyshell before soft media blasting the unit to reveal what's under this American paint!

March 2013 - What was under the American paint was of course fairly typical. Accident damage to front nearside, offside and rear centre and nearside rear wings will require extensive amounts of time and work together with replacement of most of the outer panels to return this body to it's former glory.

Most panels are available for these cars as they were built in their thousands. So replacement rather than fabrication should help to reduce costs!
