Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider

The photos tell most of the story of this car.

We originally imported this particular car in June 1990, some 20 years ago! It was sold on to another restorer as it was, left outside and under cover in Buckinghamshire for 19 years, after which time the owner decided that realistically, he was not going to get around to making a start.

The car was solid and complete when we sold it as a non-runner, however, the UK climate was in stark contrast to the environment it has spent it's earlier life in - California.

We sold the car to a highly respected collector, who selected the colours and specification (original) and rebuilt it over a 7 month period.

The body was soft media blasted, one of the the few processes that DTR don't carry out in house. We facbricated boot floor sections, wing sections, floor panels, inner and outer sills and various other areas requiring attention.

The panel work was approximately 380 hours, with an extra 200+ hours spent on the final levelling, preparation and painting. The result you can see.

New wiring loom was made, essential on all older car undergoing this level of restoration and all ancillary electrical items rebuilt.

The engine we stripped and cleaned, then  we Tig welded the damaged original aluminium block,replaced 1 con rod and line bored (most early Alfa engines require this) the bottom end. At the same time we lightened the flywheel and balanced the lower engine for improved throttle response.

The cylinder head was skimmed, with all new valves, seats, guides and springs as required. Gearbox was fully rebuilt with new synchros, bearings etc, similarly the differential.

The springs were slightly uprated, and Koni shocks fitted. Wheels shot blasted, repaired and fitted with 5 new firestones.

Interior and soft top were custom made in house at DTR.
